Magnolia ‘Leonard Messel’ is a deciduous shrub that has lance-shaped, dark green leaves and fragrant, star-like pink flowers with a white center that bloom in early spring, attracting bees and butterflies. It can grow up to 8m in height and 3.5m in spread, preferring full sun to partial shade and well-drained, slightly acidic soil. It tolerates wind but is not ideal for exposed coastal locations. Hardy to -20°C, it’s suitable for colder climates. Generally non-toxic, it is safe for gardens.
