Trevena Cross Nurseries near Helston has made plenty of children smile in the run up to Christmas with its twinkly lights, animal sculptures, snow machine, and of course Santa himself. But it’s not just children that will be smiling after the big man’s visit to the garden centre – as all proceeds raised from visits to Santa’s Grotto, are going to a wonderful local charity.
After two weekends and two late opening evenings, the Trevena Cross ‘Christmas Extravaganza’ is over, and the garden centre is delighted to announce, that thanks to the 516 children that visited Santa’s Grotto, and big support from The Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard, they’ve raised £2,460.00 for The Cove Macmillan Support Centre in Truro.
Trevena Cross owner Graham Jeffery comments:
“We decided to go all out for Christmas this year, which is very different from normal – we normally keep it low key. We’ve been delighted with the response all round and how all aspects of our ‘Extravaganza’ have gone, but most satisfying of all has to be raising nearly £2,500 for The Cove Macmillan Support Centre. We couldn’t have done it without the support of The Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard , so big thanks to them”.
The Cove Macmillan Support Centre is an incredible charity that will provide a dedicated facility for people affected by cancer in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Hopefully this money will help put a little smile on the charity’s face this Christmas, as they edge ever nearer their £1m local fundraising target.
