Garden Centre Retail Assistant
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player required to join a friendly and hard-working workforce here at Trevena Cross. This is a seasonal position but could potentially lead to a permanent position.
We are offering a part-time position covering two days a week (Thursday & Friday). There may be additional days to cover i.e. holidays etc. The hours are from 9am to 5pm with 1 hour unpaid (half hour lunch and two 15 minute breaks).
The Role:
• Serving customers in an efficient and friendly manner
• Unpacking, organising and pricing stock
• Merchandising duties, creating attractive, innovative, and inviting shop displays
• First line telephone contact, speaking to customers/suppliers and channeling queries to the appropriate department
• Supporting the Garden Centre Manager and the rest of the team with ad hoc duties as required
Key Skills:
• Previous retail/merchandising experience required, preferably across a mixed product range
• Excellent people/customer service skills
• Work well under pressure and is a team player
• Good maths skills for handling cash/epos transactions
• Highly driven, keen to progress and make the role their own and help the business grow
• Be proactive and take own initiative and assist colleagues and customers to ensure smooth day to day running of the company
• Horticultural knowledge would be preferred but not essential

Garden Centre Planteria Assistant
Trevena Cross is a family-owned business, providing a huge range of fantastic products. We have a large indoor and outdoor plant area, sundries department and giftware. We are now looking for a passionate candidate with horticulture knowledge to join our successful team. We are offering a full-time position working five days covering from Sunday to Thursday. The hours are from 9am to 5pm with 1 hour unpaid (half hour lunch and two 15-minute breaks) which will be staggered between the staff to ensure there is cover.
The Role:
• Assisting and advising customers around the Garden Centre and with telephone enquiries
• Assisting Customers with loading goods i.e. Compost/pots etc
• Stock Watering and feeding
• Stock Rotation and maintenance
• Transportation of stock and removing dead stock and waste
• Unloading new stock, checking deliveries in against the Delivery Notes and distributing stock around Garden Centre for displaying
• General house keeping around the Garden Centre ensuring the grounds are kept tidy and free from hazards
• Assist in the shop with overflow of customers in an efficient and friendly manner
• Assist in shop with distribution of stock and displays
• Assisting nursery team as and when required
• Supporting the Garden Centre Manager, Owner and the rest of the team with ad hock duties as required
Key Skills:
• Excellent people/customer service skills

Seasonal Garden Centre Assistant
If you are passionate about plants and feel you have the relevant skills, we would love to hear from you. Retail experience would be an advantage, but not essential, ideal candidates would have good plant knowledge, experience caring for plants and exceptional customer service skills.

We are offering a part-time seasonal position working a minimum of 2 days per week which may include weekend working. The hours are from 9am to 5pm with 1 hour unpaid (half hour lunch and two 15 minute breaks). Additional days may be available depending on how busy we are and to cover holidays.
The Role:
• Ensuring all plants and displays are always looking their best for our customers
• General plant maintenance and rotation
• Stock watering and feeding
• Receiving and distribution of new stock and marking off against delivery notes
• Creating attractive, innovative, and inviting plant displays
• Advising customers around the Garden Centre
• Assisting in shop with overflow of customers in an in efficient and friendly manner
• Supporting the Garden Centre Manager and the rest of the team with ad hoc duties as required
Key Skills:
• Horticulture experience and knowledge of general garden plants is preferred
• Have a keen eye for detail to ensure our products are displayed to the highest standard
• Excellent people/customer service skills
• Work well under pressure and is a team player
