Choosing the right compost from such a big range can be a minefield, but we're here to help.

The nursery has experience with some of the growing media we have available for sale and won’t sell anything that hasn’t met or exceeded expectations for a good growing medium. There are a few new ones in the range this year (that haven’t yet been tried by us) and for the first year the compost range available has more peat free and peat reduced options than those containing peat.

Click here to see the list of composts we stock, or read on for more information. Please note, this list does not guarantee availability – stock levels are constantly changing, and during the busy season, stock often depletes more quickly than we (and our suppliers) can replenish it. If you are planning on making a special journey for something specific, please check with us first.

Trevena Cross Compost

Peat Free Compost

Trevena Cross Owner, Graham, is a firm believer that the quality of the compost will determine the quality of what grows in it. We have tried and tested a great many different composts in the nursery over the years, and now the demand for peat-free composts is understandably on the up, we’re delighted to have our own Trevena Cross peat-free multi purpose compost in the compost bay and part of the mix of growing mediums available to our customers. We use this very compost in our own nursery to grow the vast majority of plants, and have found it to be excellent – the reason we have our name on it!

Recently, a greater choice of peat-free options have been added to our selection, including Harmony Gardens, Bulrush and CoCo & Bloom peat free growing media.

Trevena Cross is also stockist of farmyard manure, top soil, sands and barks. We aim to offer affordable solutions for all gardener needs and budgets.
