elegia tectorum

Elegia Tectorum

Elegia Tectorum in available in a 5L pot.

Known as Dakriet in it’s native South Africa, this popular restio forms a very attractive, fast growing, tufted clump of stunning foliage reaching about 1.5m in height and with a spread of 1.5m. Slender, compact spikes have brown bracts when flowering in the autumn. Used in South Africa for hatching hence the common name. Young plants look a little straggly but they soon straighten into beautiful clumps of structural foliage. Grow in any well-drained soil in full sun, and can be planted near the coast. Danger zone -8°C to -10°C.
