A really interesting NEW Weigela with a low growing, compact habit. Leaves are dark green and gradually take on lovely dark plum tones as the summer advances. The shoots also have plum coloured tints. The foliage makes for a striking contrast with the pure white, red throated, trumpet shaped flowers the plant bares in late May-June. Black and White is the first Weigela with this remarkable colouring.
It should be grown in a moist but free draining soil in full sun for best results - reaching about 40-50cm/1.3-1.6ft high and about 60-80cm/1.9-2.6ft wide. It is attractive planted in a pot or in a small bed in association with perennials or other low shrubs. A low maintenance plant, the only care it should require is a prune at the end of the season.
