Schizophragma PinkSensation

Beautiful, vigorous climbers which bloom very well

Close cousins of climbing hydrangeas, the Schizophragma are less well known, yet they are beautiful and vigorous climbers which bloom spectacularly. Clinging to a support, they can be planted at the foot of a wall or tree in a shady or part shady position (or in a sheltered sunny spot).

In late spring and early summer, large inflorescences of small fragrant white flowers appear. These are surrounded by large pink sepals. Vines can form up to 20-25cm wide. A beautiful plant with heart shaped leaves, that reaches 6-8m/19-26ft if left untrimmed. It should be grown in a fresh humus rich soil in a shady position if possible.
