This NEW Hydrangea, a relative of Vanilla Fraise, is exceptional for its compact size. A good grower, it has a bushy, even and low shape. Its red brown stems bear perfect, average sized panicles. The abundant green and white sterile flowers turn pink from August giving a multitude of ‘Strawberry Sundaes' on this delicious little shrub.
As with most Hydrangeas, flower colour can vary with exposure, climate and soil type. To see the full evolution of colours in the panicles, watering of the leaves and flowers directly should be avoided. Sundae Fraise is perfect for decorating small spaces, balconies and patios in a sunny to part shady position - or with its bigger relative Vanille Fraise, it adds a rich and unusual flavour to larger plantations. Height to 1.2m/3.9ft. As all paniculatas, it requires pruning at the end of winter.
