Verbascum Summer Sorbet

Verbascum Summer Sorbet

Lovely raspberry flowers are displayed

More commonly known as Mullein, a lovely display of flowers appear on this perrenial (height 60cm/1.9ft, spread 30cm/1ft) from mid spring to autumn – characteristically an iridescent raspberry with a lighter flush of deeper raspberry near the centre. Its prominent stamens are raspberry and pink. It prefers a poor, well drained alkaline soil in a sunny position for the best results. Dead flowerspikes should be cut back to encourage repeat flowering throughout the summer, and overwintered withered foliage should be removed in spring.
