This hardy, evergreen, herbaceous perennial (height 30cm/1ft, spread 50cm/1.6ft) bears dramatic silvery green foliage with contrasting deep purple-brown veins. Its leaves are deeply cut, roughly resembling the shape of a Japanese kimono. From spring through summer (June-September) it produces tawny flowers. It shoul db eplanted in full sun or partial shade in a moist but well drained soil. The more sun it's exposed to, the more vivid colour it will display and a more compact growth habit it will adopt.
