Delphinium x cultorum Magic Fountains Dark Blue/White Bee is a dwarf hybrid variety (height to around 75cm/2.5ft) - just as breathtaking as bigger varieties, but ideally suited to smaller spaces and gardens. Dark green, deeply toothed leaves are joined by blooms of blue/purple with white centres through the summer from June to September. The plants have a good compact habit with short stature, and therefore do not require staking. Its flower spikes are very attractive to bees and also make a wonderful cut flower. It prefers a fertile, well drained soil in full sun.
Delphinium King Arthur
A distinct class of perennial, the delphinium is a tall, and rather grand plant, with blue flowers – quite an unusual site in this family of plants. This variety is a hybrid, which plays on the impressive delphinium height (1.5m/4.9ft). It produces beautiful tall spikes of royal violet flowers with white centres during the summer, and if the main flower stalk is removed just after flowering, should produce secondary blooms late summer/early autumn. It should be planted in a sunny sheltered spot that will protect it from the wind.
