This beautiful, deciduous, hardy red/pink-purple flowering Magnolia (eventual height up to 10m/33ft) bursts with colour in the spring on bare stems, before its leaves appear. The flowers are dark red-purple at first, opening with a red-purple outside, and light rose-purple inside. It grows best in a neutral to acidic soil in full sun to partial shade. It also appreciates shelter from strong winds.
Magnolia George Henry Kern
