Pleioblastus distichus

Pleioblastus distichus

A great one for groundcover if trimmed

Also known as Pleioblastus pygmaeus, this is a lovely, compact dwarf Japanese bamboo (up to 2ft high) with small, attractive shiny green leaves set in parallel rows or fanned out in neat groups, appearing more of an exotic palm or fern type plant. This variety is relatively dwarf in nature, and is a real gem that can be planted in a range of places throughout the garden, providing great ground cover. It also suits pots or containers.
